The Conference Centre joins forces with the Transfusion Centre to become a blood donation venue

On 21st May we will be hosting a blood donation session

The exhibition area is being made available to donors

Donating blood is an act of generosity that saves lives every day. #HazteDonanter

This heartening, true statement is currently being used by the Valencian Region’s Blood Transfusion Centre (CTCV) to make society aware of the importance of blood donations. In the current COVID-19 crisis situation, blood donations are helping hospitals to cover the needs of patients with other conditions that require blood for their treatments.

Due to the pandemic, health centres have stopped taking donations and the CTCV needs large open spaces for people to give blood and to obtain the required number of bags they need to guarantee supply.

Given this need, and the close relationship the Valencia Conference Centre has with the CTCV Transfusion Centre (its Director, Dr. Cristina Arbona, chaired the 29th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Blood Transfusion and Cell Therapy, held at the venue in June 2018), the building designed by Norman Foster is taking up the challenge and is joining the campaign launched by this organisation, which is part of the Valencian Regional Health Ministry. The CTCV needs 650 units of blood every day in the Valencian Region to cater for hospital demand.

How are we going to participate in this initiative?

We are making our foyer or exhibition area available to anyone who wishes to donate blood, and we will be making an appeal to our customers for them to come too.

When is this event taking place?

21st May, from 5pm to 8.30pm
