The Conference Centre teams up with Valencia’s Casa Ronald
We are hosting the 2nd Charity Zarzuelas for the Casa Ronald in Valencia
At 7 pm on 28 September, the Valencia Conference Centre is to host the 2nd Charity Zarzuelas for Valencia’s Casa Ronald, an event expected to attract 1,400 people and which our venue is supporting by providing its facilities at no cost. A zarzuela is a Spanish musical play combining song and speech.
Local artists are joining forces again to raise funds for the maintenance of Valencia’s Casa Ronald, the children’s foundation that every year houses free of charge over 200 families who have had to travel some distance from where they live so that their children can receive medical care.
Following the resounding success of the inaugural festival, its director José Giner has opted for a repertoire that will revisit the most popular pieces in the best known zarzuelas such as ‘La noche más hermosa’ by the celebrated composer Sorozábal, ‘La canción del olvido’ and ‘Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente’. They will be performed by sopranos Tanya Durán Gil and Carmen Teresa Bou Soler along with baritone Miguel Ángel Ariza Calatayud.
The evening is also to feature Dolores Aura Meliá after her successful castanets show at the first event while Grupo de Bailes from the Casa de Andalucía in Silla will accompany some of the most iconic short, light operatic plays from the género chico branch of zarzuela.
As for musicians, José Giner has selected the finest from Silla, Alcácer, Picassent, Turís, El Cabanyal, Meliana, Titaguas, Chelva, Catarroja, Alfafar, Beniparrell, Massanassa and Sollana. There will also be the Casa Ronald Choir made up of choirs from Beniparrell, Cullera, Silla and Titaguas.
Donation tickets cost €8 and the proceeds will go entirely to the maintenance of the Casa Ronald in Valencia so that it can keep up its work.
