Enter our time capsule and travel to 2030

The Conference Centre celebrates World Tourism Day with the sustainable event 'The Time Capsule

The initiative is part of our sustainable strategy and our firm commitment to complying with the SDGs

Are you ready to travel through time? 2021, 2022, 2023 and… 2030! Here we are, nine years later. How do you envision Valencia and the Valencia Conference Centre? Has your sustainable wish come true?

Our imagination knows no limits of space or time. And you know the best thing? That what we are telling you is real. It is not a fantasy. Now, come back to 2021, so that we can tell you what our sustainable event was all about .

Today, on World Tourism Day, we have buried a time capsule outside our building, made by the Valencian artist Sara Sorribes out of recycled glass. Inside the capsule there are some very special messages, including the sustainable commitments and wishes of the Conference Centre team, our ambassadors, strategic partners and the general public. And all with a clear objective: to continue to move forward in complying with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This symbolic celebration was attended by the Chairman of the Conference Centre’s Board of Directors and City Councillor for Tourism and Internationalisation, Emiliano García, the Conference Centre’s Managing Director, Sylvia Andrés, the Director of the Visit Valencia Foundation, Antonio Bernabé, and the ambassadors of the organisation, Vicente Domingo, Director of the Valencia World Sustainable Urban Food Centre (CEMAS), Jaime Gómez, Professor of Hydraulic Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de València and Gonzalo Belenguer, Director of REDIT (the Valencian Region’s Technology Centre Network).

This event complements our sustainable initiatives through which we intend to continue moving forward in Valencia’s sustainable tourism strategy.

In 2030, which is when the United Nations 2030 Agenda culminates, the capsule will be removed, and the sustainable messages will be revealed. Would you like to know more about the details of the event? Read more in this press release.

The messages, sent through an online form, have been stored in a virtual file, with a QR code that has been enclosed in the capsule. Have you sent yours? You still have time! Click here
