During the 20th anniversary gala of the CONEXO newspaper, one of the main Spanish event tourism publications, organized by the NEXO Group, recognition was given to some of the industry’s leading players, including the Managing Director of the Valencia Conference Centre, Sylvia Andrés.
The NEXO publishing group, founded 30 years ago in Madrid, is a leading paper and digital press organisation in the Spanish tourism industry, with a wide range of publications, including Conexo.net, specialising in event tourism.
The importance of business tourism in the international promotion of Spain, as well as the impact of this type of tourists, whose spending power is about three or four times higher than that of conventional tourists, have led to the development of the MICE sector in Spain, which currently ranks fourth in the international table, climbing one place from last year, according to statistics published by the International Congress and Convention Association. The online and offline tourist information platform CONEXO has consistently publicised the expansion of this type of tourism in Spanish destinations, gathering the testimonials of the main opinion leaders in the event tourism market, whose work has now been recognised as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, which were held at the Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel on 27th June.
The Managing Director of the Valencia Conference Centre thanked the organisation for this award, stating, “The Nexo Group has always worked hand in hand with the tourism industry and is one of the most diversified and specialised platforms in this sector. Even in especially difficult times for the media, Conexo has managed to carve a niche for itself in the market for both its digital and paper versions and become the daily newspaper of choice for all of us who, in one way or another, are part of the MICE industry”. In addition, it is particularly fitting that both the Valencia Conference Centre and Conexo are celebrating their 20th anniversaries this year, making it “especially special for me to be able to share this moment with you”.
