The Valencia Conference Centre and the Fundación Asindown have entered into a collaboration agreement with the objective of enhancing the quality of life and promoting the inclusion of individuals with Down’s syndrome and intellectual disabilities. The agreement was signed by Paula Llobet, Chair of the Valencia Conference Centre’s Board of Directors, and Pilar Aguiló, Vice-President of the Fundación Asindown. Also in attendance at the meeting were Sylvia Andrés, Managing Director of the Valencia Conference Centre, and Paula Domínguez, Director of the Professional Training of the Fundación Asindown.

In line with this collaboration agreement’s terms, the Conference Centre, which already employed individuals with Down’s syndrome in its catering team, has taken the initiative to become the central hub for the implementation of the Training Itineraries in Dual Training mode. This educational model integrates training with the application of acquired knowledge in a professional setting. To this end, the Conference Centre will provide the venue for the theoretical teaching, with the trained personnel subsequently carrying out non-work practices linked to Valencia Conference Centre’s congress activity. This will be made possible thanks to the collaboration of the companies providing catering and auxiliary room staff of the Conference Centre, namely Gourmet Catering & Eventos and Best Way Events.

This collaboration will provide students from the Fundación Asindown with theoretical and practical training, thereby promoting the creation of more inclusive workspaces in line with the congress activities. “This initiative encourages the development of projects that facilitate the active inclusion of people with disabilities in the labour market under equal conditions. Furthermore, it demonstrates the evolving mindset of numerous organisations, which are progressively dedicated to fostering inclusion within their teams,” according to Manuel Campos, the Foundation’s manager.

The agreement, which has initially been signed for one year and is extendable, formalises the alliance between the Valencia Conference Centre and Fundación Asindown with the objective of pursuing equal opportunities and social welfare. Paula Llobet, Chair of the Valencia Conference Centre’s Board of Directors, states: “Our objective is to become a driving force for positive change in our community. By establishing ourselves as a training centre for the Fundación Asindown, we are demonstrating our commitment to a more inclusive future, where all individuals have equal opportunities.”

Both parties have agreed to collaborate closely to guarantee the seamless operation of these activities, while maintaining the regular schedule of the Conference Centre. This initiative positions the Valencia Conference Centre as a leading contributor to the advancement of a more inclusive and diverse society, while also enhancing Valencia’s reputation as an inclusive and socially responsible destination.
