Valencia Conference Centre records best result in its history in 2024
On Thursday afternoon, the Board of Directors of Valencia Conference Centre approved the financial statements for 2024. Total and international activity were up 31% and 63% on the previous year, respectively, making 2024 the best year in the history of the venue. As a result of this activity, the Centre generated a total of 110,000 overnight stays in the city.
The Board of Directors of Valencia Conference Centre, in an ordinary meeting, has approved the 2024 financial statements. According to the report presented, the Centre ended the year successfully, achieving record figures in terms of activity and has consolidated its position as a leader in the sector.
Specifically, in 2024, the Centre hosted over one hundred events attracting 100,912 attendees and 110,000 overnight stays. Revenue was €6,014,903, representing 31% growth from the previous year and a record in the history of the venue.
This increase in activity was mainly due to growth in international business, which was up 63% on 2023 and accounted for 45% of total revenue. It also highlights the trust that event organisations place in the team at Valencia Conference Centre to generate unique experiences through our comprehensive services offering.
Working capital improved significantly to €1,936,143, demonstrating sufficient short-term liquid resources to meet obligations and continue to operate normally.
For Paula Llobet, Chair of the Board of Directors and Councillor for Tourism, “the upturn in activity seen in 2024 is evidence of the improved positioning of the Conference Centre on an international level. In addition, the financial solvency of the Centre has also been demonstrated, along with tight control over expenditure, which increased by only 22%, reflecting efficient management of resources.”
“As a result,” she continued, “we recorded a historic result of €1,734,192, a figure that significantly boosts our financial position and further consolidates our international prestige as a preferred destination for high-impact events.”
The report also indicates that over the course of the year, the Centre invested €2,035,950, with €1,392,455 from the EU Next Generation funds, focusing especially on innovation and sustainability, in order to equip the venue it with the latest audiovisual technology. “We are preparing the Centre for the future,” the councillor continued, “by equipping the facilities with technology systems that guarantee the highest audiovisual quality”.
Strategic investments have seen pioneering developments, such as the creation of the digital twin of the Centre to optimise operational processes, and the installation of state-of-the-art audiovisual systems, including large-format LED screens, 2x 4K projection, customised lighting and advanced wireless transmission systems. These technological innovations place the venue at the cutting edge of the events sector, in a position to meet the most demanding requirements.
All these actions, set out in the annual report presented to the Council, led to 37 new bids for major events. “The Centre’s increased competitiveness, together with the great efforts of the team, have generated new business opportunities, and have seen it build future portfolio of more than 100 events,” Paula Llobet underlined.
Promoting social and environmental sustainability
Valencia Conference Centre has also made great strides in terms of its social commitment, through strategic collaborations such as the agreement signed with the Asindown Foundation. “The signing of this agreement makes us a training centre and opens up new employment opportunities,” stressed the chairwoman, who also pointed out that “this inclusive social-employment drive has been multiplied by the involvement of partner companies that integrate people with disabilities or groups at risk of exclusion into the teams of waiters and catering staff working at events.”
Alongside these initiatives and in the field of sustainable food, Valencia Conference Centre, together with CEMAS, the Fundació Lluís Alcanyís of the Universitat de València and Gourmet Catering y Eventos, has made progress on the MagNuS+ project, making it possible to donate more than 8,000 portions of food to the Food Bank, reaffirming our positive impact on the community.
In addition to the economic and social focus, 2024 also highlighted the Centre’s commitment as a European Green Capital partner venue. In the words of Llobet, “establishing partnerships with supplier companies to offset the carbon footprint of the Centre’s activity, raising awareness among event organisations through the Good Practice Guide and the promotion of efficient and environmentally friendly investment, aligns us with the city’s roadmap to become a carbon neutral destination.”
