The Valencia Conference Centre continuesto receive awards. In the year of its tenth birthday, the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) presented the conference centre with the Recognised for Excellence (4star) award, which not only endorses an organisation´s management excellence with regard to its customers or users, but also acknowledges the quality of the results, management and processes involved. It also evaluates the development of employees and the organisation´s social responsibility, in addition to its leadership capabilities.
The ceremony to present the EFQM award, which was held on 14th April, was hosted by Rita Barberá, the Mayoress of Valencia, together with José Salinas, the Centre´s Managing Director, both of whom have acted as a driving force behind the Valencia Conference Centre project ever since the beginning. They were both congratulated by representatives of EFQM for the work carried out over the last decade, which has culminated in this prestigious award.
The event was also attended by members of the human resource team whose efforts have made this excellence award possible.
A driving force After expressing her thanks and saying how proud she was to receive this award, the Mayoress of Valencia highlighted the fact that the Valencia Conference Centre “is the first in Spain to receive the EFQM Recognised for Excellence (4star) award, which has only been awarded to 43 organisations in Spain”. Rita Barberá stressed the role that the conference centre has played “as the driving force behind the changes which began in the city ten years ago and which have established Valencia as the fastest growing event tourism destination in Europe in the last decade.” According to Barberá, the award “demonstrates that the increase in the number of events hosted has gone hand in hand with an increase in quality.” One of the key factors when awarding the EFQM certificate was the economic impact that the conference centre has had on Valencia.
