We make a strong comeback
The today and tomorrow of the Conference Centre
The today and tomorrow of the Conference Centre
After a period marked by the pandemic in which the entire business tourism sector adapted to the new environment, the Valencia Conference Centre has returned with business figures similar to those of 2019, one of the best years in our history. What good news!
The 2022 calendar displays a total of 116 confirmed events, with more than 100,000 participants, of which 38 are highly important conferences. What’s more, in the international sphere in the last quarter of the year, the Centre has increased by 7% compared to the same period in 2019. This type of event also generates great added value, bringing an increase in overnight stays and spending to the city of Valencia.
How did recovery take place?
Recovery has been gradual, and some events were postponed in the first months of the financial year. We also had to take into account that during July and August, the building had no activity in order to complete the renovation of the furniture in the main auditoriums.
Predictions for the future are optimistic.
The team at the Centre have continued working to achieve the complete return to normality and have thrown themselves into the present and the future. This effort has boosted the numbers of candidate events, whose number already surpasses those submitted in 2021 by 33%.
In addition, 2023 looks set to be a very positive year, whose business figures, according to the data to date, seem to indicate that it could exceed that of 2019, which was one of the best years of the Centre. A significant international presence will also continue to be a feature. These events, such as the EUSOBI 2023, the 43rd Conference of The Spanish Society of Internal Medicine SEMI, the 34th National Diabetes Conference and the 9th ESWI Influenza Conference, will bring a total of 27,000 participants to the city who will make 90,000 overnight stays.
Preedictions for 2024 are also promising and we already have 13 national and international conferences confirmed, which will bring 13,000 attendees, generating 36,000 overnight stays. Among them, highlights include the 16th European Poultry Conference and the ECVS European College of Veterinary Surgeons Congress.
