The Valencia Conference Centre moves forward in its digital transformation
The City Council of Valencia is promoting, through New Generation Funds, an innovation and advanced digitalisation project with the aim of creating a "smart" building
As part of the actions aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Conference Centre in the conference tourism sector, Valencia City Council has earmarked a loan from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to improve the building’s infrastructures, based on digitalisation and the incorporation of new technologies.
According to Paula Llobet, President of the Board of Directors of the Conference Centre, “this initiative, framed within the Tourism Sustainability Plan for Valencia as a destination, will allow the development of products and services that respond to the changing demands of event organisations, allowing for greater efficiency, maximising the potential of the venue and enriching the experience of attendees”.
The project, worth a total of 549,586 euros, covers three lines of action: implementation of innovative technologies and enrichment of the user experience, improvement of the building’s infrastructure and communications and, finally, optimisation of the processing of digital video and audio signals. Thanks to this initiative, the Conference Centre will be equipped with a new digital laser projection system with twice 4K resolution, the screens in the auditoriums will be extended to 15 metres in the main auditorium, new digital totems will be acquired with the possibility of projecting hologram-like virtual presenter images, and new cameras and production equipment will allow greater flexibility in the integration of external audiovisual systems.
The company awarded the contract for the implementation of the project will be Telefónica Soluciones de Informática y Comunicaciones de España. It is also estimated to take between three and six months to complete. Among the benefits to be achieved will be an increase in the building’s capacity to meet new challenges in meeting tourism and to take advantage of future opportunities. In addition to the boost in competitiveness that these investments will provide, there will be a positive impact on operational efficiency, resulting in better management of resources and costs and improving the profitability of the service.
In the words of the President of the Council, “this initiative consolidates the Valencia Conference Centre as a benchmark venue for innovation, which favours a better positioning of Valencia as a centre of attraction for major events. Besides, digital transformation is one of the cornerstones of our destination’s European Green Capital status for 2024, so we are contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly city”.
