The Valencia Conference Centre`s 10th anniversary year has been its most successful year to date. 146 events were held during 2008 which were attended by 100,000 people. The number of congresses, conventions and conferences held rose by 5.4% to a total of 29, 19 and 36 events respectively.The impact of these events also meant an increase in the income generated by the Centre which went up to 71.3 million, the highest figure the Centre has generated for the city in the ten years it has been open and 6.5% up on 2007. This brings the total income generated by the Centre for the city of Valencia to 502.3 million and resulted from a 27.3% increase in
the sales of conference activities and the consolidation of the Centre`s customer service marketing strategy. The most important events held in 2008 included the 54th Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the 13th Meeting of the Spanish Hypertension Society, the 53rd National Conference of Hospital Pharmacy, the 2008 Congress of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology and corporate events organised by the Electrolux Group, Sony, Arcelor Mittal and Goldwell.The Centre also reached an important milestone in 2008 when it obtained the European Foundation for Quality Management`s Recognised for Excellence (4stars) award which demonstrated the Centre`s constant commitment to innovation, excellence and staying one step ahead of its competitors. The Centre is the first and only organisation of its kind in Spain, and only the second in Europe, to have been given this award.
