All set for the 38th Congress of the Spanish Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism, in Valencia

The Spanish Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SENPE) holds its 38th congress on 24 to 26 May in the Valencia Conference Centre

Drs. Carlos Sánchez Juan and Miguel Civera Andrés will be the co-chairs of this eagerly awaited event with the Nutrition Clinic, which in its thirty-eighth edition has over 800 attendees registered and almost 300 official communications submitted (including oral communications and in poster form) a record in the history of SENPE’s congresses, which gives an impression of the future success of participation by the attendees at this congress event in the capital city of Spain’s Levante region.

The congress will have 10 round tables and 6 short keynote talks that will deal with topics such as the Mediterranean diet, the pillars of active treatment of obesity, the nutritional approach to a patient with ALS, new developments in clinical nutrition for critical patients, and an update regarding short intestine syndrome. Also worthy of note is the plenary conference “GLIM criteria”. Clinical assessment of muscular mass”.

In addition, attendees at the congress can enjoy two meetings with the expert, tackling bizarre cases in enteral feeds and digital tools applied to Nutrition. There will also be a workshop on prescribing multi-component physical exercise: VIVIFRAIL.

There will also be a space for the presentation of the book “Manual de Nutrición en el Niño con Enfermedad Neurológica” [Manual for Nutrition of Children with Neurological Diseases” (published by Nutricia Profesionales); and for the project “Comer con Placer” [Eating with Pleasure], an initiative that was set up in 2019 by the Cuenca Parkinson’s Association, aware of the difficulties that many patients with neurodegenerative diseases present due to a dysfunction associated with their illness, namely dysphagia. For this reason, “Eat with Pleasure” works to  train restaurateurs to include menus adapted to suit patients with dysphagia in their restaurants.
