Emotional rollercoaster. I’m alive

Through this story we have participated in the book 'The best events of our life'.

This initiative was created by MICE industry professionals

Pen in hand at an amazingly emotional time. In March of this year, in the midst of the state of alarm decreed by the government, we received a very special invitation. And we didn’t think twice about it. It was just the right time! We wanted to participate in The best events of our lives‘, the English name of an online book in Spanish co-created by nearly fifty MICE industry professionals from Spain and Latin America during the months of lockdown, based on an idea thought up by the Event Management Institute.

We had a compelling need to capture the feelings of the moment and link them to one of the best events in our history, which we will never forget because of the emotional rollercoaster  everybody was on at the Valencia Conference Centre whilst it was held… This is why we decided to write about the 1st Valencian Region Congress for People with Cancer and their Relatives, organised by the Spanish Cancer Association in February 2019 and hosted by our building as a charity initiative.

And the result was the Spanish story ‘Carrusel de emociones. ¡Estoy vivo!‘ (Emotional Rollercoaster, I’m alive!). We invite you to read it and enjoy it as much as we did while we wrote it:

A cold winter morning that soon turns warm. The early morning sun caresses the walls. The emotions do the rest. Glances of complicity that not only collide, but are sought at every step, at every moment. Glances of hope, resilience and infinite patience, of enthusiasm about a new chapter. Almost a thousand people. Unique for who they are. Each one with their own story. Stories that tied a mill stone around their lives, changing them forever. Others, are easier to bear. Depending on how one looks at it. All with a desire to be shared with no stigmas attached. Dialogue prevails over every minute and brings out the most human side of the Valencia Conference Centre team. Dialogue overflows. Emotions overflow. Patients and relatives of the 1st Valencian Region Congress for People with Cancer and their Relatives, organised by Spanish Cancer Association, who are united by everything. One hug. Many hugs”.

And so our building changed forever. One year later, the emotions are still very much out there
