Special Employment Centre Forum (CONACEE)

In October, the Valencia Conference Centre will be playing host to the 15th Spanish Special Employment Centre Congress and the 1st European congress for inclusive and sheltered employment adapted to cater for disabled people.

This national meeting, which will take place from 23rd to 24th October, is set to bring around 300 delegates together, including representatives from Special Employment Centres (SECs), companies and the general public. The dynamic format of the event includes round tables, meetings, an analysis of the social and employment situation and issues facing disabled people, financial aid, and dealings with government. Currently, 70% of employees with disabilities work at one of the 2,500 Spanish Special Employment Centres (source: Spanish Statistics Institute).

This event, entitled “The search for future solutions”, will provide the opportunity to establish strategic synergies and mutual support that can generate solutions to facilitate the occupational integration carried out in the SECs.

For the first time ever, a European symposium will be held in parallel with this congress. Its remit is to provide an insight into the economic, political and social background in Europe, and to share experiences with other SECs outside Spain. Disabled people find job solutions suited to their abilities in inclusive European companies, with backing from legislation in these countries. The best practices implemented by Europe in terms of developing the skills of disabled workers and finding employment for them, and the testimonies of disabled employees working in inclusive companies will be some of the areas under discussion.
