The Local Government Board will approve tomorrow the agreement appointing the municipal entity to manage and promote the facilities of the iconic historic building dating from 1909. The aim is to attract national and international congresses, conventions, professional conferences and corporate events that generate economic returns and activity for the city. The model will ensure the preservation of the building while remaining fully compatible with the municipal library and public offices, which will continue to operate as normal.

The investment reinforces the venue’s position as a model of efficient and smart management of business tourism. The projects, funded by the European Next Generation programme, were carried out between 2024 and 2026. These measures help to optimise air conditioning and lighting, integrate renewable energy sources and make progress towards reducing the carbon footprint

The Conference Centre is allocating 45,000 euros to AVAPACE, Asindown and Mira’m to carry out initiatives covering all aspects of accessibility: physical, sensory, cognitive and communicative. The Valencia Conference Centre is celebrating its 28th anniversary, having established its own identity and become a key player in the city’s business tourism. Since it opened in 1998, this venue has seen a 4.6-fold increase in the number of international conferences it hosts, establishing Valencia as one of the leading international MICE destinations, according to the latest statistics from the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

The Valencia Conference Centre closed the last financial year consolidating its upward trend as a destination for large meetings. In 2025, it generated 95,000 overnight stays, a figure that reflects the direct economic impact of conference activity in the city, especially considering that business tourism generates between three and four times more expenditure than holiday tourism. Zentropy MICE is a pioneering initiative in Europe that applies the concept of urban entropy to MICE tourism to integrate and transform the urban flows of conference tourism for the benefit of the city. The Zentropy MICE project will run for three and a half years, until May 2028, and has been allocated a budget of €5.2 million, 80% of which is financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Valencia Conference Center was chosen as the pilot venue to measure the impact of events on the city using an entropy calculator developed at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

Councillor Paula Llobet emphasised that ‘since 1998, this institution has accompanied Valencia’s transformation with a forward-looking vision, with innovation, sustainability and global impact as its hallmarks.’
