The Valencia Conference Centre brings together specialists from 40 countries to analyse the latest developments in neural rehabilitation
From today to 12th June, the Valencia Conference Centre will be hosting a unique international event which brings together leading experts in the field of neural rehabilitation: the Rehab Week 2015, the umbrella under which three different conferences will be held: Recent Advances in Neurorehabilitation (ICRAN), the International Neurorehabilitation Symposium (INRS) and the International Conference of Virtual Rehabilitation (ICVR)
- The Rehab Week is one of the most important international meetings on acquired brain damage, neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases and mobility issues.
- Over 600 professionals will be taking part in this major international event to explore new technologies in neural rehabilitation.
- The Valencian venue is set to host around 30 congresses this year, which will be attended by over 30,000 participants.
- The cumulative economic impact generated by the venue from its activities since it was opened has reached €952 million.
Over 600 delegates from 40 different nationalities will be attending the event, including the best specialists, researchers, therapists and engineers in neural and virtual rehabilitation, whose advances and discoveries focus on improving treatments and recovery from injuries suffered in the central nervous system, such as acquired brain damage, neurodegenerative diseases, neuromuscular diseases, and mobility issues.
On this occasion, this leading multidisciplinary informative event centres on the challenges and benefits of combining different technologies, and constitutes a valuable forum for debate and learning in the field of neural rehabilitation showcasing how these new technologies, which bring together science and engineering, can improve clinical outcomes.
The explosion in the use of technological solutions over the last 20 years will be put under the microscope and a comprehensive analysis of the efficiency and acceptance of the use of robotics, virtual reality, functional electrical stimulation and sensor technology in surgical procedures will be carried out. New technologies are currently seen to be a highly valuable contribution to improving the clinical outcomes of conventional therapies.
Leading speakers at the event include the award-winning American doctors Michael Merzenich and Michael Gazzaniga, who are well-known for applying new techniques to find out how the cerebral cortex is structured.
According to the organisation, “this second edition of the Rehab Week in Valencia is a must for therapists, doctors, engineers and scientists from all over the world. It is one of the largest events in this field and includes a broad range of interactive workshops, conferences and prestigious international speakers”.
The Rehab Week joins the other medical meetings included in the Valencia Conference Centre’s schedule, which is set to host around 30 congresses and will bring together over 30,000 delegates. Some of the scientific and health events which have already been confirmed for the near future include the Oxygen Club of California World Congress, the 52nd Congress of the Spanish Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedics, the 65th Spanish Nephrology Congress, the 37th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Primary Care Physicians (SEMERGEN) and the 60th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy.
Since it was opened in 1998, the Valencia Conference Centre has hosted 2,750 events attended by over 1,700,000 visitors. Over 800 of these meetings have been congresses and conventions, which have brought together around 500,000 delegates. These events have generated an economic impact of €952 million in the city of Valencia.
