The Conference Centre will be lit up in gold on 25 September
From 26 to 30 April 2021, we will be hosting the Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Oncology
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and the Valencia Conference Centre has joined the international ‘Shine Gold’ campaign launched by the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOP Europe). On 25 September, the multipurpose room 1 in our building, together with several flagship buildings around the world, will be lit up in gold, to raise awareness and pay tribute to children and young people fighting cancer, as well as to carers, healthcare specialists and scientists conducting research into this disease. The La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital in Valencia will also be installing banners with a gold ribbon on the balcony located in the Outpatient Area 1 of the building.
From 26 to 30 April 2021, the Valencia Conference Centre will be hosting the second Annual Meeting of this European scientific society, which has chosen Valencia as the venue for this international congress. Oncologists, surgeons, nurses, scientists, researchers, parents and patients will be meeting to exchange experiences, share knowledge and advance research into child cancer.
The five-day congress will have a new format, with interactive workshops and forums that will give working groups the chance to discuss and disseminate the results of clinical research carried out in Europe. Another new feature showcased this time is the organisation of a charity race around Valencia, in order to raise public awareness about childhood cancer. All proceeds will be donated to the Childhood Cancer Organisation (CCI) Europe, a parent-led support and advocacy organisation for children and young people with this disease.
The first Annual Meeting was attended by more than a thousand participants from 65 countries and was supported by CCI Europe. In the second event, the congress will be jointly organised again by SIOP Europe and CCI Europe.
