We have a new section on our blog!

The ‘Personality of the Month’ is a portrait of our team, customers and suppliers

And the first person kicking off the section is… Desi, our colleague from the Operations Department!

The 43rd UGT Confederal Congress played host to 1,200 people in person over four days and was packed with loads of emotions and achievements. It also prompted us to start up a new section on our website: ‘Personality of the Month’. The person we’ve chosen to kick off the initiative is Desiré Pardines, Desi to her co-workers, in the Valencia Conference Centre’s Operations Department. Together with Amador Chicharro, a technician in the same department, she coordinated the production of the Congress which was entirely managed by the Conference Centre. In addition to the indirect employment created by the event, some 60 people worked daily at the venue to provide security, audiovisual, signage, IT, cleaning, support staff, medical, translation and photography services. All these services used at the venue were supplied in-house and the results far exceeded our customer’s expectations.

For Desi, this event was the starting gun for large-scale face-to-face events to get going again after COVID-19. “Producing a congress of this size calls for a lot of effort, but once again I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the rest of the team (staff, suppliers and organisers),” she says. “We’ve all come together like a family, pulling in the same direction to achieve the success and satisfaction this event has brought us.”

Desi is “an amazing, incredible professional and a great human being,” commented the organisation’s secretariat at the end of this multitudinous congress. “Now I know why you won the World’s Best Convention Centre award; it’s your staff that make the Conference Centre unique, make everybody feel at home, ensure there are no problems, and should any issues arise, the team is always on hand to solve them.

In short, Desi is a real all-rounder, just like the rest of her colleagues in the department. They are excellent professionals and people who do their jobs to the highest standards and especially thanks to two of their many qualities: experience and versatility in meeting our customers’ needs. “I’m really lucky to lead a team that is passionate about what it does,” says Operations Director, Juan Antonio Peña. “They are people who get excited about every event we host at the Conference Centre and have the ability to create an emotional impact on our customers.
